Mark Grace is a former American Major League Baseball first baseman, coach and media personality.
Mark Eugene Grace was born on June 28, 1964, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States. His parents are Gene Grace and Sharon Grace. He spent some of his childhood years in Antioch, Tennessee.
Mark Grace went to high school at Tustin High School in Tustin, California where he played high school baseball and basketball. He proceeded to play baseball for San Diego State University. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1985.
Mark Grace made his major league debut on May 2, 1988. He spent 16 seasons with the Chicago Cubs from 1988 to 2000 and Arizona Diamondbacks of the National League from 2001 to 2003.
Mark Grace was part of the 2001 World Series champion Diamondbacks that beat the New York Yankees. He announced his retirement from baseball on September 26, 2003. He served as hitting coach for the Diamondbacks’ Class A Short Season affiliate Hillsboro Hops of the Northwest League in 2014 and was the hitting coach of the Diamondbacks until the end of the 2016 season.
Mark Grace was a television colour commentator for the Diamondbacks and for Fox Saturday Baseball. He even had a deal with Fox Sports in 2007. He is the father of sons Preston Torre Grace and Jackson Gene Grace. He is presently living in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
