Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 25 featured Nia Sioux and Kendall Vertes paired up for a duet that could’ve brought the house down.

Instead, they never got the chance to shine.

If you watch Dance Moms online, you know the backstage drama often takes center stage, but this took even us by surprise Tuesday.

Abby Lee Miller granted four of her students – Nia, Kendall, Brynn Rumfallo and JoJo Siwa – duets in this week’s installment on Lifetime.

The fallout from those pairings?

Nia was determined to impress the second time around, but was feeling under the weather and worried that her illness might hinder her.

“I’m not feeling very well and I want to make sure that I’m the best that I can be,” she said, while there was another adversary at work:

The return of Abby’s mini team and their moms.

Between that and her illness, it was rough for Nia, who later told her partner and coach that she felt too sick to complete the duet as planned.

Abby then picked out a fill-in: Kalani Hilliker.

Ironically, fans may recall how Nia was the one who stepped in for Kalani in previous duet with Kendall when she suffered a back injury.

Now the tables have turned.

Meanwhile, Kalani’s mom, Kira Girard, was concerned about the “most impossible prop ever” for the contemporary number at stake.

“These girls have a lot on the line … the telephone line,” Abby said, referencing the prop for the routine to Lady Gaga’s smash "Telephone."

Nia was able to perform with the elite team in their Prince-inspired group number, while Kalani and Kendall competed the duet together.

Despite minimal rehearsal time, Kendall and Kalani slayed, earning first-place overall in the teen division and applause from Miller.

Meanwhile, the mini team took first for their pageant dance, while for their part, Brynn and JoJo placed first in the pre-teen division.

The elite crew’s Prince number took second, meaning it would be very hard for even Abby Lee to find something wrong this episode.

That’s saying a lot for the Beast of the East …
